Attention Martial Artists: if you want to discover the fastest, easiest way to feel comfortable on the ground...

'The Roadmap for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Package'
- How to Learn BJJ FAST! -

Stephan Kestingby Stephan Kesting, BJJ Black Belt, Combat Submission Wrestling Coach, Kajukenbo Karate Black Belt, Instructor under Dan Inosanto, Published Author in Black Belt and Ultimate Grappling Magazines, and Instructor/Producer of the Grapplearts Instructional DVD Series

Do you find yourself lost and frustrated when it comes to Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and grappling? For example...

  • Do you feel overwhelmed by all the different techniques and submissions in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu?

  • Do you worry about approaching your instructor (or fellow students) with questions that might make you look ‘stupid'?

  • When two people are grappling on the ground, does it often just look like a giant tangle of arms, legs and bodies?

  • Do you have no clue what you should do next to get better at Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

  • Do you get frustrated when someone shows you a cool technique, but then you can't - for the life of you - get it work in a real sparring situation?

The good news is that there is a way to get BJJ right, right from the start!

Here's how to save yourself months,
even years, of frustration when learning BJJ!

I’ve been around the sport of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and other martial arts for a long time.  I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my training, and seen beginners make countless more mistakes.

Some of these mistakes could result in injury.  Other mistakes lead to months of wasted time and effort, as you do the wrong thing again and again.

Don’t let this happen to you. How you set out on something can set the tone for the whole rest of the journey. Just think about how much faster you could progress and how much better you’d be if you could avoid the rookie mistakes that nearly all BJJ beginners make!

Keep in mind that these mistakes are NOT your fault.  BJJ is complicated – that’s one of the things that keeps it so interesting, even after years of training.  (Also, if you can come to grips and understand this complexity it can give you a HUGE advantage on the ground in a self defense situation. That's because you'll know what's going on, and your opponent won't have the first clue).

A big part of learning BJJ is asking questions, but many people are worried about looking ‘stupid’ should they ask a ‘dumb’ question.

Well, if you’re new to an activity then there really is no such thing as a stupid question. That being said, wouldn't it be nice if you already knew enough to ask advanced questions about the specific details of a technique, rather than the typical 'newbie' questions?

I’m telling you that BJJ can,
and should, make sense!

Imagine knowing:

  • How to position your weight so that it crushes your opponent, and the secrets of preventing him from doing the same to you.
  • Exactly how you can always improve your position.
  • Guard passes that work at all levels of competition.
  • The transitions you must know to go from being a mere beginner to an advanced level player.
  • How to set up and apply match-ending submissions when the opponent's attention is elsewhere.
  • And... I know it sounds corny but it's true... much, much more!

Teaching The Roadmap Concept

Teaching the Roadmap Concepts

We filmed this DVD in high definition, so the footage looks awesome (but is viewable on any TV or computer). And of course there is a menu with chapter marks, so that you can quickly navigate to the exact section you need to brush up on.

For me to teach you this material personally, in a series of private classes, would cost you at least $600. Putting it onto DVD gives you the ability to watch, study and review the material many times. There is no question that this is the DVD that every beginner must own if he or she wants to start their BJJ journey out right!

 2) The Roadmap for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Book

Roadmap for BJJ Book Note: The Roadmap Book - in it's printed form - is ONLY available as part of the Beginning BJJ Roadmap Package. I am not releasing it in any bookstores or online by itself.

When I started writing this book my goal was to write some brief notes, distilling and explaining the hidden concepts of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.  I’d made a lot of discoveries (and mistakes) on the road to black belt in BJJ. I set myself the challenge to see if I could explain the art to others in a written form.

Initially I wasn’t really clear about what I was going to do with this material – I thought that maybe it would make a good magazine article or two.  Well the material took on a life of it’s own, and morphed into an obsession.  I worked and worked and worked on it – it took a few months of writing and photography – but finally it was ready to go.  I released it on my site, not knowing what to expect.

The reaction shocked me.

Beginners, intermediate and advanced level BJJ players scrambled to get their hands on it.  Instructors told me that this material changed the way they taught their own students.   Thousands of people read the book online. Again and again people wanted to know if I was intending to publish this information in a physical book.

So I bit the bullet, reformatted the whole thing, and got it printed. I could have cut corners and gone with black and white photos, small pages, etc. I stuck to my guns however - against the advice of many 'helpful' experts - and made sure it was published in full color, on heavy gloss paper, and using a large 8.5 x 11 page format. When something looks this good you just want hold it in your hands.

IF I were to release it to bookstores as a standalone product it would retail for AT LEAST $39.95, but now it’s ONLY available as part of this package.

3) Full length Audio CD: “The Roadmap for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu”

Roadmap for BJJ Audio CDEveryone is busy these days.  I love to read, but sometimes it’s easiest to listen (and re-listen) to materials on my iPod, while running errands or working out.  It's very satisfying to improve your grappling abilities while driving to an appointment or to a meeting.

With this in mind I put the Roadmap program out as a full length audiobook. I recorded it in a professional studio, with a sound engineer (who, incidentally, is a lead singer in an ABBA tribute band, but that's another story...).

This full length audio CD will be shipped to your house with the rest of the package, easily a $20 value on its own.

4) Step-by-Step Submissions on DVD

Step by Step SubmissionsThis video is designed to allow you to quickly reference the most common submissions from every position. I concentrate on the techniques that work both with and without the gi.

Do you want a quick reminder of the steps to apply a triangle choke? Are you sure you know the key details of the Kimura? Well now you'll be able to quickly access the steps and the details for these and many other techniques.

There are 10 different submissions covered in this DVD, and 31 step-by-step entries to get you into them.

Just a sec! That's Already a Ton of Good Stuff, BUT
If You Order Now I'll Also Give You...

Bonus #1: Effective No-Gi Grappling in 5 Lessons (a $150 value)

BJJ Roadmap BJJ FilesI teach very few seminars (I’m just too busy). When I do find the time to do a seminar I always have a blast. And everyone learns a ton.

But before I tell you about this bonus let me give you a bit of background about it first...

I've known my friend Loki Jorgenson for more than 20 years. He has decades of experience in the martial arts, and is known as a weapon's specialist because he teaches Filipino Martial Arts at his hardcore school, Maelstrom Martial Arts. (He also has a strong background in Karate and Wing Chun Kung Fu).

Loki approached me to teach a small group of students a crash course on groundfighting. He felt that this was important because he and his student compete in full contact 'Dog Brothers' style stickfighting, where everything is legal (including taking your opponent to the ground and beating on them there). Like I said, they're hardcore.

Not surprisingly, he wanted to make sure that his students have a strong ground game, so that they can survive (and even thrive) if the fight hits the ground as it so often does.

As things went along, this crash course grew into a series of evening seminars. On this data DVD is never-before released footage of my 5 closed-door sessions teaching groundfighting and Brazilian jiu-jitsu to a group of martial artists who paid up to $150 to attend. I’ve only taught the material in seminar form once…

There was a lot of pressure on me to succeed here: I only had them for handful of evenings – they were all martial artists practicing other arts. The material had to be delivered concisely and in a way that they would retain it for life.

I would only get one 'kick at the can' to make these beginners comfortable on the ground.

Teaching the Choke

Working with Seminar Participants

The seminars were fantastic and the participants had a blast. The mix of concepts, drills and techniques we used accelerated their learning hugely compared to 'traditional' methods of teaching BJJ... and in a very short time they looked like they'd been grappling for 5 months, not just 5 nights.

One guy even entered a local grappling tournament and won his division using a combination of submissions I'd taught him.

This footage was initially shot for documentation – we used a good camera and all, but we didn't spend a lot of time making the set look 'pretty,' if you know what I mean. But then I saw how much ground we covered, how much they learned, and how they enthusiastically they responded to the concepts, drills and teaching techniques. This convinced me release it, in order to get it into the hands of grapplers who needed this material for their own training right away.

It would have cost you $150 plus 5 evenings of your time to be here, but now you can have the information I presented, for free, as a bonus when you order the Roadmap for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Package.

The materials on this DVD are all Quicktime movie files you can view on your computer, upload directly to your video iPod, or view on your mobile phone.

Bonuses #2, 3, 4 & 5.  Four acclaimed short instructionals, (a $120 value)

I often wish it were easier to stick cool techniques and drills onto my iPod so that I could take them with me to class, quickly referring to them as I'm practicing. Well I'm taking my own request, and acting on it.

So, on the same DVD as the Underground BJJ Seminar Series, I’ve also included 4 of my best short videos, including

• A Rear Naked Choke Tutorial
• Guillotine Choke Masterclass
• Half Guard Leg Position Drill
• Four Alternatives to Pulling Guard

If you wanted a short private class to go through this material at top speed with no repeats I’d still have to charge you at least $120 for my time.

Now you can watch (and re-watch) these techniques as many times as you want… for FREE… on your computer. You CAN take it with you!

Bonus #6: The 56 Key Points on the 7 most common BJJ submissions reference wall chart (a $40 value)

56 Key Points for the 7 most popular BJJ submissionsAs I work with BJJ students I find that almost all beginners (and even a shocking number of ‘advanced’ players) make the same mistakes over and over when they apply submissions.

I created this wall chart specifically to destroy, eradicate, and wipe out submission mistakes that undermine the power of your attacks, and allow your opponents to escape again and again.

Let's say for a second that you're doing some (or all) of these submissions incorrectly. When you finally figure out what you’re doing wrong and then fix it you'll notice an immediate surge of benefits, including

  • Having much more control over your opponent, preventing him from squirming out of the attack.
  • Your attacks feeling twice as powerful (yet requiring much less strength)
  • Your submission success rate shooting through the roof

Now imagine if you could stop making these mistakes, not just for one choke or jointlock, but for all seven of the most common submissions in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and no-gi grappling. Would that be a game changer? You bet it would!

These 56 key points are printed on a large, glossy, great-looking poster, along with 14 professional photographs showing the right and the wrong way to do each submission.  I figured that, given the value of information on the poster, it warranted high quality all the way!

I’ve sold this item for as much as $40… but now you get it … FREE!

And There's More!

Bonus #7: Instant Access to "Unlocking BJJ, Taking Your Grappling Game to the Next Level" (a $36 value)

Who Am I, and Why Should You Believe
What I Say?

I’ve been in the instructional DVD business since 2002 and am now an established figure in the BJJ and grappling world. I've sold more than 10,000 instructional grappling DVD's to some very happy, very satisfied customers.

(Sometimes I think I have the most fervently loyal customers – or fans – of any video-based instructor out there, for which I am extremely grateful).

Here are the DVDs that I've created so far (not including the Roadmap for BJJ materials):

Stephan's Other DVDs

The reason I'm showing them to you is to prove that I’m not some fly-by-night operator.

People know that I stand for quality products, and I’m not going to ruin my reputation by releasing a bunch of garbage just to make a quick buck.

A short list of my other accomplishments include

  • Achieving Black Belt rank in BJJ at a highly competitive school.
  • Becoming an instructor in Combat Submission Wrestling under Erik Paulson
  • Receiving a Black Belt in Kajukenbo Karate
  • Being a certified Instructor in Dan Inosanto’s Filipino Martial Arts, Majaphait Silat and Jun Fan / Jeet Kune Do
  • Author of more than 20 articles, published in martial arts magazines like Black Belt and Ultimate Grappling
  • Creating the Grapplearts Series of Instructional Videos, covering a range of topics ranging from guard sweeps, to leglocks, to grappling drills.

Here are the things that BJJ Black Belts take for granted (that they don’t tell white belts)

It’s embarrassing to admit now, but when I started grappling I didn’t even know whether it was better to be on top or on bottom in a real fight!

Simple facts like this are taken by for granted by many Black Belt Instructors - in fact, many important things are so 'obvious' to them that they don't bother to pass them on to their students. Other instructors may know these things intuitively, but have never thought about how to verbalize them and pass them on to their students.

Either way, if these concepts, strategies and tactics get laid out for you in a clear, concise and interesting manner (instead of you having to figure it all out through trial and error) then your skills will literally jump to a new level overnight.

I’ve pulled several months worth of all-nighters getting this material ready for you, and making sure that it’s up to snuff, both in terms of quantity, and quality.  I take a lot of pride in my work, and I want to be sure that this is the Ultimate Send-You-Off-In-The-Right-Direction Resource for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Candid Talk About Who Will Benefit from the Roadmap for BJJ Package

The target audience for this DVD includes:

  • BJJ Beginners with one year (or less) of continuous training.  It’s not too late to get off to a good start, and lay the foundation for years of continuous improvement.
  • People thinking about starting Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.  Not only will this material knock your socks off and get you all motivated to train, it will also give you the background you need to evaluate and choose the right BJJ school.
  • Intermediate level players who want strong basics. “I’ve never thought about jiu-jitsu in this way before” was the comment from one BJJ blue belt. Other blue belts have told me that there was lots of entirely new material for them in the package.
  • Instructors and coaches who will find new ways to teach the material that is already in their curriculum.  If your student’s learn faster, they’ll be happier and they’ll stick around longer.

A Note About Pricing...

The Roadmap for BJJ Package is valued at $1075.90, because that is what it would cost to acquire this information any other way.

Let’s take a second to put the price into context; the cost of the Roadmap for BJJ package is:

  • A little bit more than of a pair of high-end running shoes
  • Less than an hour of private instruction from most famous black belts
  • About the same as one month of instruction in many of the nation’s top BJJ schools.

If the information in this package saves you half a year of fumbling around on the mats while trying to figure it all out for yourself, then the Roadmap for BJJ package will pay for itself six-fold!

Finally, if you’re concerned about the price, consider that I’m giving you ONE YEAR to check the material out, RISK FREE.  If during that time you don’t think you’ve gotten your money’s worth from the package then return the materials for a full refund.

You have nothing to lose. Get BJJ right, right from the start!

Some Feedback from Satisfied Customers

I have had the benefit of checking out Stephan Kesting's new package, "A Roadmap for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu", including the high-definition DVD, book and multimedia files associated with this package. As a practitioner and instructor of Classical Ju-jutsu and Bu-jutsu, I was impressed with Stephan's analytical and humble approach to teaching this complex topic.

Stephan has done an admirable job of taking away the mystery and confusion associated with assimilation of core grappling principles. The course that he has created is an easy-to-understand yet thorough analysis of the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

As the title suggests, this work provides the reader/viewer with a conceptual matrix from which to consider individual techniques and prioritize appropriate responses in the "heat of battle". I was particularly impressed by how Stephan approached the subject with a critical mind-set that addresses tactical issues not only from the perspective of sport jiu-jitsu, but also Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and street self-defence.

This course is a must-read, must-watch not only for individuals commencing their study of close-quarter systems but also serious fans of MMA and those who may have been schooled in other approaches to grappling.

I could say a lot of great things about the A Roadmap to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu package that Stephan Kesting has put together, but I'll avoid the obvious of what makes this package great. What I believe makes this package worth acquiring is the effect that it has on your way of thinking regarding your ground game.

After a single time of going through the material I had so many answers to previous questions running through my head that I had to hit the mats! Even if you have been training for a long period of time I can guarantee you that there will be something in this package, whether it be entirely new to you or not, that will cause a spark in your mind that will lead you to eventually evolve in your ground game. This I believe is a greater lesson than any technique that you can learn. Teach a man to fish...

Stephan Kestings ‘A Road Map to Brazilan Ju Jitsu’ is a great tool for any level practitioner, whether completely new to the art, looking to learn more complex moves, or simply wanting a clear framework for your current skills.  The key to Stephan’s success is the multiple tools he provides.  Between the DVD, book, CD, and online videos and links, Stephan has created a comprehensive, choose your own adventure of BJJ that lets you decide what you want to achieve and how.

Stephan’s training style is very clear, concise, and academic in how he explains the purpose, method, and place of each move within the system, and he comments on everything from the theory and training to competition and the street. This formidable teaching style and the different tools he provides is what makes ‘A Road Map to Brazilan Ju Jitsu’ a cut above the rest.

Stephan, I have always found your materials to be very informative and I like your philosophy of when learning something to hit it from all possible angles.  I received your Roadmap package last week.

Thus far I've only had the opportunity to view the book (an excellent framework resource), the e-book (a superior complilation of helpful articles) and I've been watching videos on The Grappler's Guide.  I've been involved with martial arts for almost 30 years (let's say I started young !!!) and IMO I think this resource package should be mandatory for any instructor wishing to implement a grappling program to their curriculum

I learned a lot from the Roadmap to BJJ package. Although I have done various martial arts for over 5 years, this package strengthened my grappling foundations. The techniques and principles are presented in an easy to learn and concise way.

Stephan's BJJ Roadmap helped me become a better grappler because his well thought out and inclusive approach focuses on what he calls "high percentage techniques." This is a very useful approach for those of us who want to learn grappling but don't have a lot of time to dedicate to learning every aspect of the art.

I was especially happy to get some great material that works for smaller people, especially since I am often faced with bigger opponents. For example, Stephan suggests that the "rear mount choke" is worth perfecting. He then explains in great details, including how to get into this position from several starting points and how to apply this technique effectively.

It's easy for BJJ beginners to get lost in a maze of seemingly unconnected techniques and distracted by complicated "supermoves". And even more advanced players sometimes lose sight of the big picture - the ways in which BJJ is an integrated game. They still get to where they're going by stumbling down the road, but wouldn't it be nice to have a map that shows you all the routes to your destination before you start your journey?

A Roadmap for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is a resource that caters to various needs and learning styles: written instruction and schematic diagrams in a booklet; audio and video materials that include drills and technique instruction on everything from submissions to basic positions to "what do you do when...?" There's even a handy poster with tips on some of the most fundamental movements. It's an astonishing amount of material, all presented in Kesting's clear, easy-to-follow style.

I recently got my hands on The Roadmap and am working my way through the TON of material you get (one disc innocuously titled "Computer/iPod Files" actually has FIVE one hour of seminars on it and is worth the price of the package alone!!).

The package strongest point is the framework provided to understand BJJ . This makes it perfect for the beginner but also very useful for me as a coach.

I highly recommend this product

Stephan - I have the pleasure of owning 5 DVDs that you've produced. I can honestly say that the production and the contents of these DVDs (as well as the various articles, links and concepts) are by far the best I've seen.

All of these resources link and reinforce the concepts of BJJ as well as MMA for those of us who want to really improve our grappling game and enjoy the journey of learning.

The Roadmap to BJJ package is another testament to your skill as an instructor to guide newbies as well as some of us who have been around but still "groping in the dark". Kudos to you and your team.

I promise that you’ve got a full year to check this material out and enjoy the direct benefits on your grappling skills.  Once you get your package, go through it all, watch all the videos, listen to the CDs, enjoy the printed resources, etc. and see what you think.

If, after going through all the material, you don’t think that it took months off your BJJ learning curve then I don’t deserve your money.  It’s a no-questions asked policy – just return the material to me and I’ll cut you the check or refund your payment!

I’ll probably get taken advantage of by making this offer, but I’m really not about ‘tricking’ people into getting my products. I stand behind what I say: if you don’t like the materials, or if you decide that they just aren’t for you, then simply return them for a full refund.  No hoops.  No hassle.  No risk.

So Why Am I Offering So Much For So Little

Martial artists are a suspicious crowd, and so you might be wondering "Why would he offer a $1075.90 value for only $197?"  Well, there are several reasons

Reason #1: Because it’s a brand new package and I don’t yet have a lot of feedback and testimonials for it (yet). I’m hoping that some of you will help me out with testimonials after you’ve received your package.

Reason #2: Because I want to change the way people learn (and teach) Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. BJJ is normally quite a disorganized art, and most students are left to sink or swim on their own.  By getting this material into the right hands I hope to help a lot of new grapplers, and do my part in helping the sport continue to expand for a long, long time.
